The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera L. and is intended for wine production. In international registers, it is designated with the letter B, which corresponds to the white color of the berries.

The origin of the variety is linked to the cross between Síria and Malvasia Fina. The variety is autochthonous to Portugal and is included in international grape lists, however, detailed agronomic characteristics of the plant are practically absent in publications.
