Genetically, the variety is a product of a natural cross between Pinot noir and Gouais blanc. Vine shoots have weak to medium vigor. The leaf is three-lobed, slightly dissected, with the central lobe shorter than the lateral ones.

Bunches are medium-sized, cylindrical or cylindrical-conical in shape, loose or medium-dense. Berries are round, small, white with thin skin, and may acquire a golden or brownish hue upon ripening.

Mid-season variety, ripens earlier than Pinot blanc. It possesses increased frost resistance for European varieties (down to -19...-22°C), but is sensitive to late spring frosts. Due to the thin skin, it is highly susceptible to grey rot and is also prone to ovary shedding.
