The variety is autochthonous to the Ionian Islands and the Peloponnese. Genetically, the variety belongs to the descendants of Gouais Blanc. The plant possesses perfect flowers and is characterized by high yield, as well as good adaptation to various soil types.

The clusters have a medium or large mass of 300–350 g, a cylindrical or cylindrical-conical shape, and medium density. The berries are small, golden-yellow in color, round or slightly oval in shape with thick skin and juicy flesh.

The variety demonstrates resistance to drought and Botrytis cinerea, while it is susceptible to downy mildew and powdery mildew. It is used to create high-alcohol white wines, often in blends, including Verdea wine.
