The variety is the result of natural cross-breeding and has a genetic link to the Plavac Mali and Dobričić varieties. The plant is characterized by a bisexual flower, a medium conical bunch, and medium black berries with thick skin. The vine is medium to vigorous, with berry ripening occurring in late September – early October.
The variety is characterized by winter hardiness and drought tolerance, but is sensitive to fungal diseases, including grey mold, black rot, and sour rot. Best results in wine production are achieved when grown on poor rocky soils, where yield is reduced and the concentration of aromatic substances is increased.
