The variety Blanca Gordal is characterized by an open tip of the young shoot, light green in color with dense pubescence. Young leaves have a whitish hue and dense down on both the upper and lower sides.

The plant is a traditional local variety undergoing clonal selection stages to improve crop quality. The variety is actively being studied in the Altiplano de Granada region for its oenological properties and winemaking potential.
