Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to the medium-late maturity group, although ripening times may vary depending on the clone and climatic conditions. The clusters are characterized by a compact size, density, and a shape resembling a pine cone. The berries are small, round, dark blue or blue-black in color with thin skin and a waxy bloom (pruine).

The variety is demanding in terms of growing conditions and is sensitive to heat and direct sunlight. It is characterized by high susceptibility to fungal diseases, such as grey mold (Botrytis cinerea), downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola), and powdery mildew (Oidium). It is used for the production of red dry and sparkling wines that possess high acidity and moderate tannins.
