Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has ancient Burgundian origins and, according to research, emerged from the natural crossing of the Schwarzriesling and Traminer varieties. The grape clusters are characterized by their compactness and a shape resembling a pine cone; the berries are small, bluish-black in color with thick skins.

The variety is considered difficult to cultivate and demanding regarding growing conditions and soils. It is prone to genetic mutations, which have resulted in the emergence of other varieties in the Pinot family. The variety is used to create complex wines with red berry aromas, which develop notes of forest floor and spices with age.
