The variety is the result of crossing Blauer Portugieser and Blaufränkisch. Clone E.93 is an officially registered identifier in Hungarian registries, maintained by the Institute of Viticulture and Enology of the Eszterházy Károly University.

The plant belongs to wine varieties with a mid-early ripening period. The leaves are medium-sized, five-lobed. The clusters are of moderate density, cylindrical in shape, and often have additional wings. The berries are dark blue in color, covered with a thick waxy bloom.

Wine from this variety is distinguished by a deep color, velvety tannins, and notes of cherry, raspberry, and currant. The variety has good resistance to gray mold, but is susceptible to downy mildew and other fungal diseases.
