The variety is autochthonous to the island of Korčula in the Dalmatia region. Genetic studies have confirmed that it serves as one of the two parent varieties of the famous Croatian variety Pošip Bijeli.

The purpose of the variety is winemaking; it produces full-bodied wine with good balance and high-quality aroma. The variety has a strictly female flower type. Currently, the plant is extremely rare, its population is on the verge of extinction, and commercial acreage is practically non-existent.
