The Bogdanuša Bijela variety is an ancient autochthon of the island of Hvar. The plant is characterized by very high vigor, vigorous vegetative development, and consistently high yields. To obtain a high-quality harvest, the variety requires deep, fertile, and moderately moist soils.
The berries have a color ranging from greenish-yellow to golden-yellow. The variety is a wine grape and is used to create high-quality dry white wines with fresh acidity, as well as in blends. The grapes are highly susceptible to Botrytis cinerea.
The variety has a number of synonyms, including Bogdanoucha, Bogdanuša Mala, Bogdanuša Vela, Bogdanjuša, Vrbanjka, Mladinka, and Hvarka.
