The vine is characterized by high vigor. The leaf is medium-sized, pentagonal, three-lobed, green in color. The bunch is small, conical in shape, often winged, and of medium density. The berry is medium-sized, round, dark blue in color with a waxy bloom, with medium skin thickness and juicy flesh.
The variety is late-ripening; budburst is medium-early. The plant is sensitive to downy mildew and gray mold. Due to the low fertility of the buds, long pruning is recommended; the variety is considered productive and well-adapted to poor and dry soils.
Wines from this variety are characterized by high acidity, intense ruby color, and moderate alcohol content. The aroma features notes of red berries, black pepper, and herbaceous undertones. Due to the high tannin content, the variety is often used in blends.
