The variety is indigenous to Sardinia and is genetically related to the Nieddu Procco variety. The vine is characterized by high vigor and stable productivity. The clusters are medium-sized, conical or cylindrical-conical in shape, and medium-dense. The berries are medium, sub-oval, black-violet in color with thick skin and a pronounced waxy bloom.
Berry ripening occurs from late September to early October. The variety shows good resistance to climatic stresses and pests, but is prone to sour rot. The grapes are used exclusively in winemaking, primarily in blends to provide structure, high acidity, and tannins to the wines. The aroma of the finished wines contains notes of berries, spices, and balsamic undertones.
