The name Chaudenet (sometimes Chaudenet Gras) is not an independent variety in the agronomic sense. Depending on the region and context, this name refers to the Chardonnay or Aligote varieties.

Both varieties associated with this name belong to the wine grape varieties of the species Vitis vinifera and originate from the crossing of Pinot and Gouais blanc. To identify a specific plant when this synonym is used, geographical origin must be taken into account.
