The variety is the result of a natural crossing between Roter Veltliner and a variety from the Traminer group. The vine has medium vigor; leaves are large, round, three- or five-lobed, with felt-like pubescence on the underside. Clusters are medium-sized, dense, cylindrical in shape; berries are small, round, with thin skin, acquiring a pinkish-reddish hue upon ripening.
The variety is sensitive to frost and highly susceptible to grey mold and downy mildew, while possessing good drought tolerance. Wines are characterized by high sugar content, extractivity, and aging potential; the aroma features notes of exotic fruits, nuts, honey, and spices.
