The variety has ancient origins and is historically associated with the Tuscany, Lombardy, and Emilia-Romagna regions. The grapes are characterized by a late or very late ripening period, high resistance to grey mold and other fungal diseases, but are sensitive to drought.
The bunches of the variety have a cylindrical-conical shape and are of medium or large size; the berries are large, oval, and acquire a golden hue upon ripening. Wines produced from this variety possess pronounced acidity and notes of apple, pear, and flowers.
