The variety is of Portuguese origin, however, its genetic lineage has not been reliably established. It belongs to the Malvasia family and is classified as a wine grape variety for winemaking.

In professional databases, the variety is most often mentioned as a synonym for Malvasia Parda. At present, detailed morphological descriptions and agrotechnical characteristics of the variety are absent in open sources. In 2016, the total area of its cultivation in Portugal was about 3 hectares.
