Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to the early ripening category; harvesting is often carried out at the end of October to obtain overripe grapes. The name is associated with the straw-yellow color of the berries. The variety is susceptible to gray mold, cultivated on the Amalfi Coast on terraces at an altitude of 200 to 550 meters; vines are traditionally trained on pergolas.

The grapes are used exclusively in winemaking, being part of the blends of prestigious white wines. Genetically, the variety is related to other local varieties of Campania, such as Pellecchiona and Cacamosca. It is not the result of artificial breeding, but belongs to traditional local varieties.
