In international ampelographic literature, Fekete muskotály is classified as a synonym for the Muscat Hamburg variety, which was obtained by crossing the Trollinger and Muscat of Alexandria varieties. Classical Muscat Hamburg is characterized by black berries and an intense muscat aroma.
In the interpretation of the Szentesi Pince winery, this variety is considered an independent ancient Hungarian cultivar. It is characterized by an early ripening period and a specific organoleptic profile that combines the aroma of white muscat wines with the structure and tannins inherent in red varieties. Specialized agronomic data on this local clone are absent in open sources.
