Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is traditional to Southwest France and originates from wild vine. Leaves are medium-sized, five-lobed, with dense pubescence on the underside. Bunches are medium-sized, compact, berries are round and range from small to medium in size. The name originates from the Latin ferrum, which is associated with the hardness of the petioles and wood.

The variety requires yield control and short pruning due to its budburst characteristics. It possesses high resistance to gray mold and is low-susceptible to powdery mildew, but is heavily damaged by cicadas. Wines produced from it have good structure and potential for aging.
