The hybrid was developed in France in 1925 and is known under the breeding number Burdin 7705. Its genetic composition includes the species Vitis aestivalis, Vitis labrusca, Vitis rupestris, and Vitis vinifera. The variety does not contain diglucoside anthocyanins.

The plant belongs to early varieties, ripening a week earlier than the Chasselas variety. The variety is low-vigor, sensitive to grey mold, and requires grafting for protection against phylloxera. It can be used as a rootstock.

The leaves are five-lobed, round or wedge-shaped with an open U-shaped petiolar sinus. The bunches are compact, small to medium in size, and the berries are medium-sized and round in shape.
