This variety is a clone of the base autochthonous variety Grasă de Cotnari, selected by the research institution SCDVV Pietroasa. The designation "45 Pt" indicates the number of the specific selection aimed at improving the phytosanitary status and increasing the yield stability of the material.

As a technical variety, it is historically used for creating high-quality white wines, including beverages made from late-harvest grapes using "noble rot." The wines are characterized by high acidity and complex aromatics, including notes of honey, apricot, acacia flowers, and beeswax, and possess potential for long aging.

The origin of the base variety Grasă de Cotnari is linked to the Cotnari region in Romania, where it has been cultivated for centuries. Genetically, the variety shows similarities to the Hungarian variety Furmint.
