The variety is a natural color mutation of the Pinot Noir variety. The berries have grayish-pink or copper-brown skin, yet they are used to produce white wines. The clusters are small, compact, cylindrical in shape, sometimes with pronounced shoulders. The leaves are pentagonal, with three to five lobes.
The variety has an exclusively technical purpose and is demanding in terms of growing conditions, preferring warm slopes and deep, nutrient-rich soils. The grapes are capable of accumulating a high concentration of sugar, which allows for the creation of both dry and sweet dessert wines.
