Variety description

The vine is vigorous. The leaf is pentagonal, five-lobed, very deeply cleft, with sparse bristly pubescence on the underside. The bunch is medium-sized, weighing 180–230 g, cylindrical or cylindro-conical, sometimes winged, medium-dense or dense.

The berry is medium or small in size, round, white in color, and covered with a thick waxy bloom. The berry skin is thick. The variety has a late or very late ripening period; the harvest takes place from the end of September to the beginning of October.

The variety has moderate frost resistance (down to –15...–18°C) and varying resistance to fungal diseases. The berries have juicy pulp and high sugar accumulation potential. The wines are characterized by good structure, pronounced acidity, and aromatic notes of almond, hazelnut, pear, and citrus.

There are two genetically distinct clones: Grechetto di Orvieto and Grechetto di Todi, with the latter being identical to the Pignoletto variety.
