The variety belongs to the category of landrace and has an ancient origin, presumably from northern Spain. The vines are vigorous, leaves are medium-sized, three- or five-lobed with pubescence on the underside. The bunches are of medium or large conical shape and medium density; berries are medium-sized, round, dark blue in color with a thin but firm skin.

The plant possesses high drought tolerance and withstands heat well, however, it is susceptible to downy mildew and gray mold under excessive moisture. The variety is characterized by high yields, which require control to ensure the quality of wine products. Wines from this grape are characterized by moderate acidity, soft tannins, and notes of red berries and spices.
