The variety has rounded five-lobed leaves and small, dense conical bunches. The berries are small, round or slightly oval, dark violet in color with thin skin and a thick waxy bloom. The flower is hermaphroditic.

The plant possesses high resistance to drought and certain wood diseases, but is susceptible to downy mildew, phomopsis cane and leaf spot, and grey mold. It is sensitive to weather conditions during the flowering period, which can lead to flower abortion and wind damage to the vines.

Wines made from this variety are characterized by medium to full body, high alcohol content, and moderate tannins. The aromatic profile includes notes of red fruits and spices. The variety is frequently used in blends, including classic combinations like GSM, for taste balance.
