Grenache rouge N is a vigorous plant well-adapted to poor, stony soils and strong winds. The variety is characterized by high yield, which requires control to maintain berry quality, and possesses resistance to phylloxera.
The berries of the variety are juicy, with thin skin, and are prone to rapid sugar accumulation, which often leads to high alcohol content in finished wines. Wines from this grape are characterized by medium acidity, soft tannins, and aromas of red fruits with notes of spice.
