The rootstock was developed as part of a breeding program to create nematode-resistant vines. It is a first-generation hybrid derived from a cross between Vitis rupestris and the muscadine grape variety Cowart.

The plant possesses high resistance to a wide range of soil-borne nematodes, including Meloidogyne and Xiphinema index species, by limiting their reproduction in the root system. The variety also exhibits chloride-excluder properties, reducing salt accumulation in the leaves.

In professional viticulture, the use of this rootstock is limited due to the complexity of its propagation process. Since it is a breeding selection for root system development, it is not intended for fruit production.
