Grenache gris is a natural genetic mutation of the Grenache variety. The vine is characterized by high vigor and productivity. The variety ripens early, prefers warm, dry conditions and stony soils, while exhibiting resistance to drought and strong winds.
Bunches and berries are small to medium in size, with the berry skin colored pinkish-grey. The fruit accumulates a high level of sugar with moderate or medium acidity.
The variety is used in winemaking for the production of white, rosé and sweet wines, and is also added to blends with red wines to add freshness and adjust alcohol levels.
