The variety is a wine grape used for the production of a wide range of wines, from table to high-quality predicate wines, including ice wines. Wines made from this grape are characterized by distinct freshness, good acidity, and aromas of apple, pear, linden, and jasmine, with a characteristic spicy-bitter aftertaste.

The name comes from the Croatian word grašak, which means "pea," due to the similarity of the berries to the fruit of this crop during the ripening period. The variety is considered quite resistant to diseases, which ensures stable yields. Genetically, this variety is not related to German Riesling, despite the presence of the name "Riesling" among its synonyms.
