The variety is the result of breeding work by the Research and Development Institute for Viticulture and Enology (ICDVV) in the town of Valea Călugărească. The clone name reflects its serial number and the abbreviation of the research center.

The plant is intended for winemaking. It is included in the official catalog of cultivated plant varieties of Romania and is part of the institute's ampelographic collection, which numbers more than 1100 varieties.
