The variety is of natural origin and is the result of a cross between Cabernet Franc and Magdeleine Noire des Charentes. The vines are characterized as vigorous. Bunches are medium-sized, cylindro-conical, medium-density, weighing 110–160 g. Berries are medium, round, dark blue in color with a bloom, firm skin, and juicy pulp.
The variety is relatively resistant to downy mildew and gray mold, but susceptible to powdery mildew. Frost resistance is approximately -20 °C. The grapes are used both as a single varietal and in blends for the production of wines with intense color, soft tannins, and fruit aromas.
