Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has ancient origins and a genetic relationship with the Prunelard variety. Depending on the region, it may be found under a multitude of historical names, such as Bordelais Noir, Piquat, or Verdot in Chile. It is distinguished by high and stable yields when using short pruning.

The bunches of the variety are large, often winged, cylindrical-conical in shape, and dense. The berries are black-blue in color, medium to above-medium in size, elliptical in shape, with thick skin and juicy pulp with an astringent taste.

The plant possesses good resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, is weakly susceptible to gray mold, but is sensitive to infestations of mites, European grapevine moth, and leafhoppers. The variety poorly tolerates excessively moist soils and is currently considered a rare crop.
