The variety has ancient origins and comes from the Peloponnese peninsula. It is a wine grape variety used for the production of dry white, rosé, sparkling, and dessert wines. The Rs designation in catalogs indicates the pink color of the berry skin, although the variety is traditionally classified as a white variety for winemaking.

The clusters are of medium size, the berries are small with thin skin of a pinkish or grayish-lilac shade. Young shoots are characterized by high density of pubescence, reddish stripes on the internodes, and anthocyanin coloration of the apex.

The variety has a long growing season and stable productivity. It adapts well to a cool high-altitude climate, which allows it to preserve pronounced acidity and a complex aromatic profile with notes of roses, violets, citrus, lychee, and spices.
