The variety has numerous names in different countries, including Pušipel, Moslavac, Šipon, Furmint and Mosler. It is genetically linked to the Belina variety and is related to Belina Svetokriška. The name Moslavac is presumed to originate from the Moslavina region.
The variety is characterized by high fertility, which requires crop regulation to maintain wine quality. The vines possess a lush canopy and winter hardiness. The thin skin of the berries makes the variety susceptible to powdery mildew and grey rot, and in cold, rainy years, problems with flowering and fruit set shedding are possible.
The use of the variety allows for the creation of both dry mineral wines with citrus and spicy notes, and dessert wines, facilitated by the berries' ability to be affected by the noble rot Botrytis cinerea at the end of the season.
