Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has medium vine vigor and low yield. The leaf is medium-sized, elongated, 3- or 5-lobed, with dense cobwebby pubescence on the underside. Bunches are small or medium, conical or cylindrical-conical in shape, and loose. Small round black berries have thick, rough skin and are covered with a heavy waxy bloom.

The plant is demanding in care, has low resistance to powdery mildew and pests, does not tolerate high humidity well, and requires warm, light, gravelly soils for proper ripening. In cool climates, the berries often fail to reach full maturity.

Wines from this variety are characterized by deep color, pronounced tannin structure, full body, and aging potential. The flavor and aroma profile includes notes of plum, blackberry, blueberry, cherry, violet, lilac, lavender, sage, licorice, and spices; when aged in oak, it is complemented by tones of vanilla, coffee, and hazelnut.
