Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is exclusively a rootstock and is not intended for fruit production, as it has staminate flowers. The vine has medium vigor on fertile soils. Leaves are large, thin, heart-shaped or wedge-shaped, with a corrugated blade and bristly pubescence on the underside. Matured shoots have a reddish-brown hue, and the bark easily separates in thin strips.

Possesses high resistance to the root form of phylloxera, fungal diseases, and nematodes. It shows the best development on moist, permeable soils, while it poorly tolerates high carbonate content and is not recommended for arid conditions. The rootstock roots well, promotes early ripening of the scion, and limits its vegetative growth.

The features of the variety include the risk of a difference in trunk diameters at the graft union due to the slow thickening of the rootstock, which makes the vines more fragile. It is also noted that the use of this rootstock can lead to faster aging of grafted varieties.
