A variety of German origin, which emerged in the Rhine river valley as a result of a natural cross between the Gouais blanc variety and an unknown variety. The plant is characterized by medium to strong vigor and forms rounded three- or five-lobed leaves.

Clusters are small or medium with a weight of 80–100 g, most often cylindrical in shape. Berries are medium-sized, rounded, greenish-white with a yellowish hue and dark dots, covered with a thin but firm skin.

The variety possesses good frost resistance and disease resistance. The high acidity of the berries allows for the production of wines suitable for long aging.
