This variety is not the result of breeding crosses, but a selected population of the Riesling variety. It is intended for winemaking purposes and the production of white wines with high acidity and aging potential.

In studies of resistance to fungal diseases, the clone "Riesling de Rhin 7-2" demonstrated a medium degree of tolerance to black rot (Guignardia bidwellii), showing an infection level of 7.2% and proving to be among the least susceptible varieties in the 2023 observations.
