The seeding rate determines plant density and wheat agrocenosis productivity, depending on the cultivar's tillering type, regional conditions, and cultivation technology. For soft wheat, balancing crop structure elements, regulated through stand density, is critical.

The seeding rate for soft wheat is calculated in millions of viable seeds per hectare or kilograms per hectare, taking into account the thousand-kernel weight (TKW), purity, and germination rate. The ranges of seeding rates vary significantly depending on the climatic zone: from 2.5 million seeds/ha in arid regions to 7 million seeds/ha in areas with sufficient moisture.

When selecting a rate, it is necessary to consider the biological tillering type of the cultivar. Cultivars with a low tillering coefficient require higher seeding rates, whereas high-tillering forms are prone to reduced productivity when overcrowded. Under intensive cultivation technologies, an excessive seeding rate is contraindicated due to the risk of lodging and increased susceptibility to pathogens.
