In a number of plants, such as primocane-fruiting raspberries, the process can involve both annual and biennial canes, although utilizing both types often leads to a decline in product quality. Due to continuous productivity, such plants require intensive cultivation practices, including frequent fertilization and regular irrigation, while plantations often have a short operational lifespan and require frequent renewal.
During variety testing, remontancy is evaluated as an important economic and biological trait through phenological observations of flowering and fruiting dates, as well as through the study of yield dynamics. Variety testers compare samples with standards based on total seasonal yield and check the stability of the trait during propagation, as well as its uniformity within the variety.
