The dry matter content in meadow fescue depends on the growth stage: in freshly cut green mass, it ranges from 15–30%, while drying to hay increases this figure to 83% and above. As the plant develops from tillering to flowering, the proportion of dry matter increases, which allows agronomists to evaluate growth stages, winter hardiness, and harvest timing.
