The shrub is characterized by a compact habit. The leaves are elliptical or ovate in shape: they are bronze-green when emerging and acquire a red hue in autumn. The inflorescences are flat or slightly convex corymbs 4–12 cm in diameter, consisting of small fertile and large sterile double flowers.
Flowering occurs in July–August, sometimes continuing until September; fruits ripen in October. Frost resistance is down to -29°C (USDA zone 5). The variety is demanding regarding soil fertility and moisture, preferring diffused light and an acidic environment.
