The shrub is characterized by a compact shape and dense foliage, which is dark green and glossy in summer and acquires a reddish-purple hue in autumn. Flat corymbose inflorescences consist of small central fertile flowers and large sterile flowers at the edges.
The plant prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soils. Flowering lasts from June to August or September. The variety is winter-hardy in USDA zone 6, and under favorable conditions can grow in zone 5. Pruning should be minimal, as flower buds are set on old wood.
Among potential problems, susceptibility to powdery mildew, leaf spot, bacterial wilt, and aphid infestation is noted. The shrub is suitable for single and group plantings, creating borders, as well as for container growing.
