The tree is vigorous and forms an upright, spherical crown. The variety enters bearing late, after 10–12 years on its own roots, yet bears fruit annually and abundantly. The plant is hardy, possesses resistance to scab and powdery mildew, and develops well in deep, rich, and moist soils. The variety is diploid and self-infertile, requiring pollinators.

Fruits are medium-sized, round, or slightly conical in shape. The smooth skin is yellow-green with a dark red blush on the sunny side and is covered with stellate lenticels. The flesh is yellowish-white, often with red tints under the skin, fine-grained and juicy, and has a sweet-and-sour taste. It is a winter variety: harvest maturity occurs in mid-October, though the fruits are prone to dropping in strong winds.
