The variety is a synonym for the names Pomme de Fer and Marie-Joseph d’Othée. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and forms a wide, open crown, while in old specimens the branches may take on a weeping form.

The medium-sized fruits have a round shape and a red-green skin color. The flesh is firm, greenish-white in color, very juicy, and characterized by a sour taste. The variety is primarily used for culinary processing and juice production, but it is also suitable for fresh consumption.
