The rootstock was obtained by crossing Malling 26 and the crabapple Robusta 5. In terms of vigor, the plant is close to the M.9 rootstock and requires mandatory installation of supports or trellises to support the canopy.

The plant possesses high resistance to fire blight and collar rot, while being moderately susceptible to woolly apple aphid. The rootstock is characterized by good winter hardiness, the ability for active propagation in nurseries, and minimal formation of root suckers.
