Variety description

10 August 2026

The Mark rootstock belongs to the dwarf group; trees on this rootstock reach 35–40% of the size of trees on seedling rootstocks. The plant is characterized by high precocity and a tendency toward intensive fruiting, which, in the absence of crop thinning, can lead to tree exhaustion.

The root system of the rootstock is not sufficiently robust, so the trees require mandatory support. The variety is resistant to Phytophthora collar rot, but susceptible to fire blight and woolly apple aphid. It tolerates drought conditions poorly, requires irrigation, and does not produce abundant root suckers.

In the root collar area, the rootstock often forms a characteristic tumor-like thickening, which can lead to uneven tree growth in the orchard. The fruits of the rootstock itself are inedible and have no commercial value.
