The rootstock provides tree growth at a level of 55–60% of the standard size. It possesses winter hardiness and the ability to adapt to various soil types, however, it is sensitive to waterlogging and requires good drainage.
The root system is characterized by insufficient anchorage, therefore trees on this rootstock require permanent support. Characteristic features include a tendency to form burrknot on the bark, weak ability to form root suckers, as well as susceptibility to fire blight and crown rot.
