The variety is a spontaneous bud mutation of the Jonagold variety. Trees are medium-sized with a wide, dense crown and spur-type fruiting. The variety is triploid; therefore, it requires the presence of diploid pollinator varieties for stable crop formation.
Fruits are large, with a weight of 170–260 g, and are round-conical in shape. A distinctive feature is an intense dark-red or dark-raspberry blush covering almost the entire surface of the fruit. The flesh is cream-colored, juicy, and has a dessert taste.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness and a long fruit storage life. It is susceptible to scab and cancer; therefore, it requires the selection of less humid sites for planting.
