Variety description

A tree or large shrub 5–7 meters in height with a broad, rounded crown 3–5 meters in diameter. Young leaves have a dark red or bronze tint, turning green with a brownish hue in summer and acquiring amber-brown tones in autumn.

Flowering occurs in May–June. Flowers are large, up to 3.5–4 cm in diameter, pink-red or lilac-red in color, and have a light fragrance. The fruits are small, 1–1.5 cm in diameter, spherical, and blood-red in color.

The variety is winter hardy, withstanding temperatures down to −28.9 °C, is resistant to urban air pollution, and tolerates drought relatively well. It possesses good general disease resistance, though under unfavorable conditions, it may be affected by scab, powdery mildew, or canker.
